Vanda falcata (Kaiomaru)
This is a bean leaf type of Vanda (Neofinetia) falcata with shorth, thick leaves accompanied by deep purple markings along the leaves and stem. This is a miniature variety of the species and carries the distinct plum blossom-style of flowers for the species. This variety is great for growing on a windowsill or outside.
Vanda falcata is a very rewarding species that is native to China, Japan, and Korea. This species is very strongly fragrant at night, smelling very similar to a gardenia flower. Vanda falcata has the title of one of the first -if not the first- orchid to be widely cultivated, as they were prized by wealthy Japanese families in the 1600s. This hardy species remains compact while putting out many keikis as they age. Plants are flowering size. These are seed grown plants and will have some variability but will all be bean leaf style plants.
