Bulbophyllum sumatranum is native to Sumatra, Borneo, Peninsular Malaysia, and Thailand and is a fantastically colored example of this group. This species is currently recognized as Bulb. lobbii subsp. breviflorum and differs from the Bulbophyllum in its color, free-flowering habit, fragrance, and overall fuller flower shape. Bulb. sumatranum 'A-doribil' AM/AOS is one of the best examples of the species ever awarded. It displays a burnt orange-red coloration and as mentioned previously, it can flower nearly throughout the year. Plants are flowering size in 6" pots.
